Pre-launch comms check…

TL;DR - My 'hello world' post. The promise of more to come. 🌍

Hey! It's been a while since I've written anything substantial on the internet, aside from a handful of well-received LinkedIn posts. You might well have heard my voice though, as host of the Testers' Island Discs and Screen Testing podcasts, and recording regular audio posts on my Racket profile.

So, why the change now? Well, without boring you all with my life story, as a journalism graduate I've always had an affinity for the written word. And frankly, there are plenty of people who don't have the time or inclination to listen to an hour of my ramblings when they could extract the salient points from the text in just a few minutes. Most importantly though, I'm about to embark on a big career change.

Preparing for launch πŸ‘©β€πŸš€

From 19th July, I'll be working remotely for Postman, an API collaboration platform that I've been passionately advocating for years now. With an active community of over 15 million users worldwide, and offices in India and the USA, it's a change which is equal parts exciting and challenging. I've decided to write publically about my goals and accomplishments (successes and failures!) along the way, primarily for my own benefit; by openly writing about what I'm trying to achieve, I hope that this will give me the focus and drive to meet my objectives.

That's not to say that all of my content is going to be Postman-related. I'll be sharing thoughts on tools and practices which I hope will be applicable to other people's contexts too. Also, you shouldn't assume that I'm writing about everything that I'm doing at Postman - undoubtedly I'll find myself working on unreleased, unannounced features that have to remain under wraps.

Anyhow, I'm signing off for now. The primary purpose of this post was to learn a bit more about the Proseful blogging platform that I'm using (it's clean and simple to use; many thanks to Simon Tomes for the tip). The rest of this blog should begin to take shape over the next few days; thanks for reading! πŸ™‚
